Titans Add Former Jaguars Defender Joe Gaziano to Defense

The Tennessee Titans have bolstered their defensive line just days before the start of their preseason.

According to a team announcement, the Titans have signed free agent defensive end Joe Gaziano. To make room for the new addition, the team has placed offensive lineman Chandler Brewer on Injured Reserve. Brewer had joined the Titans’ practice squad midway through last season.

Gaziano, who spent last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, was often shuffled in and out of their practice squad and appeared in three games. He now joins the Titans as they prepare for their upcoming preseason games.

At 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, Gaziano enters his 28th year in the league as a five-year veteran. He originally went undrafted in 2020 after earning All-Big Ten honors at Northwestern in 2017 and 2018.

Before his time with the Jaguars, Gaziano played for the Atlanta Falcons in 2023 and spent three seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, where his career began. Over the course of his career, Gaziano has played in 26 games, starting one, with career totals of 27 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one pass defended. His most recent season with the Jaguars saw him register three total tackles (two solo, one assisted).

Now, Gaziano will join a Tennessee defensive front that includes standout players like Sebastian Joseph-Day, T’Vondre Sweat, and Jeffery Simmons. While he’ll be competing for a depth spot, he’ll have the opportunity to showcase his skills during the Titans’ three preseason games before the roster is trimmed to 53 players ahead of Week 1.
