Devastating Injury Update for Vikings WR and Former Purdue Star Rondale Moore
Rondale Moore, former Purdue standout and current wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, has suffered a leg injury during Saturday night’s NFL preseason game against the Houston Texans. A heartbreaking update reveals that Moore, in his fifth NFL season, has sustained a “significant left knee injury” that could potentially sideline him for the entire 2025 season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The injury occurred on Moore’s very first play of the game, marking a tough blow for the Vikings. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first season-ending injury Moore has experienced — he also suffered a knee injury before the 2024 season with the Atlanta Falcons.
Moore had signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Vikings this offseason.
Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell expressed the difficulty of the situation, saying, “It’s one of the most painful things for me as a head coach when I feel that emotion. I make a life out of trying to leave others better than I found them. In that situation, there is nothing I can do, which is the worst feeling as a coach. So you just consult with him and make sure that he knows he’s not going to be alone.”
During his first three NFL seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, Moore played in 33 games, recording 135 receptions for 1,201 yards and three touchdowns. Unfortunately, it now seems highly likely that he could miss another full season.
Moore was drafted by the Cardinals in 2021 after an impressive career at Purdue, where he made an immediate impact, earning Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors in 2018. That season, he racked up 1,258 receiving yards, 213 rushing yards, and 662 kickoff return yards, scoring 14 total touchdowns for the Boilermakers.
