Carolina Hurricanes Open to Reuniting with Free Agent Forward
As we enter the quieter period of the NHL offseason, with training camps still a month away, there’s still movement happening behind the scenes. While many players have already signed contracts, a few remain unsigned, including a familiar face for the Carolina Hurricanes. 
NHL Rumours: Carolina Hurricanes Eyeing Possible Reunion with Jack Roslovic
Insider Frank Seravalli recently shared on Bleacher Report’s YouTube channel that the Hurricanes are open to the idea of bringing back unrestricted free agent forward Jack Roslovic.
Roslovic, who had a 22-goal season with the Hurricanes last year, is still one of the more notable players without a team. Despite his solid performance, he has yet to secure a contract for the upcoming season. The 28-year-old, hailing from Columbus, Ohio, is reportedly seeking a pay raise from his previous $2.8 million salary, but no deal has materialized so far. According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, while Roslovic has received several offers, he’s not rushing to accept any of them.
Although Roslovic’s ability to add depth scoring would be valuable for any team, he has had some inconsistent seasons, including a down year in 2024-25, where he scored only nine goals split between the Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Rangers. Despite this, his time with Carolina was more successful, with general manager Eric Tulsky’s decision to sign him proving worthwhile.
What It Means:
While other teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs have been previously linked to Roslovic, Carolina might be the most likely to re-sign the forward. However, there are hurdles to consider. Carolina may not have a clear spot for him in the lineup, though Roslovic could offer an upgrade over current second-line center Jesperi Kotkaniemi.
Despite his solid contributions during the regular season, Roslovic found himself a healthy scratch for six games during the Hurricanes’ playoff run to the Eastern Conference Final, which raises questions about his role moving forward.
There’s still a chance he could return to Raleigh, with the possibility that players like Mark Jankowski or Tyson Jost could be waived to make room for him if Tulsky opts to re-sign Roslovic.
While no deal has been finalized yet, many teams are reportedly interested in the veteran forward, with even the KHL showing interest. However, with time running out, Roslovic’s future could be decided soon.
