Can Colorado Buffaloes Steal Elite QB Recruit from Texas Longhorns?
The Colorado Buffaloes, under Coach Deion Sanders, are setting their sights on one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2027 class—four-star quarterback Kavian Bryant. Hailing from Texas, Bryant is a highly coveted recruit, with several prestigious programs vying for his commitment. Can the Buffaloes outpace the Texas Longhorns in securing this elite talent? 
As part of their recruitment efforts for 2027, Colorado is targeting a number of top-tier prospects, with Bryant standing out as one of their key targets. According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, Bryant is currently the 39th overall recruit nationally, the 2nd-ranked quarterback, and the 7th-best player from Texas.
Colorado Extends Offer to Bryant
Bryant shared on social media that the Colorado Buffaloes have officially extended him an offer. The communication came from Colorado’s Director of Player Personnel, Corey Phillips, who spoke with Bryant before the offer was made.
In his social media post, Bryant included a photo of Shedeur Sanders, the Cleveland Browns quarterback, flexing a watch and celebrating a victory with the Buffaloes.
Competing Schools and the Road Ahead
Although several programs have expressed interest in Bryant early in the recruiting process, his primary focus remains on the Texas Longhorns, Florida State Seminoles, and Texas Tech Red Raiders, according to On3. Convincing Bryant to leave his home state will be a challenge, but with the coaching staff in place at Colorado and depending on the team’s performance this season, the Buffaloes could make a strong push.
NIL and Bryant’s Recruitment Strategy
As one of the top prospects in the age of NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deals, money could play a role in Bryant’s decision-making. However, the quarterback has emphasized that his primary goal is to win and be part of a program where he feels he can make a significant impact.
“I just want to win games and join a program where I can help elevate it to the top,” Bryant told On3. “I believe I can do that anywhere, and money is just a small part of the decision.”
