CARBONDALE, Ill. – As the school year kicks off at Southern Illinois, the athletic programs are ramping up as well. The soccer team is coming off a season-opening victory and will play two more games this week, while volleyball is gearing up for its season with an upcoming exhibition match.
Soccer The Saluki soccer team began their season last Thursday with an impressive 4-0 win over Eastern Illinois, marking the most goals ever scored in a single game in program history. The goals came from Dory Latenser, Aylie Haycock, Sophia Schlicklin, and Olivia Anderson, with Schlicklin also contributing an assist.
The team’s action continues this week with two games. On Thursday, August 21, they host SEMO at 6 p.m., followed by a road game on Sunday, August 24, against IU-Indy at 1 p.m.
Volleyball The volleyball team is inching closer to the start of their 2025 season, with an exhibition match scheduled for Saturday, August 23, at UT-Martin.
