Three Elon Players Earn Preseason All-CAA Volleyball Honors
RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University volleyball had three players recognized in the Colonial Athletic Association’s preseason awards announcement on Monday, with junior Cameron Lanier earning a spot on the preseason All-CAA Team.
Lanier, an outside hitter, was selected to the 10-member preseason All-CAA squad. Meanwhile, teammates Caroline Berlekamp and Catherine Rucker were named honorable mentions.
Lanier led the Phoenix last season with 245 kills and an average of 2.72 kills per set while hitting .236. The Chapel Hill native posted double-digit kills in 14 matches, including a season-best 15 against Southern Miss.
Berlekamp, a junior middle blocker, contributed 128 kills and led the team in both solo blocks (19) and total blocks (101), averaging 0.96 blocks per set. Her .299 hitting percentage ranked sixth in the CAA last year.
Rucker, also from Chapel Hill, made the CAA All-Rookie Team in 2024. The middle blocker recorded 88 kills (1.82 per set) with a .330 hitting percentage, and finished third on the team with 57 total blocks (0.84 per set).
In the 2025 CAA Preseason Poll, the Phoenix were picked to finish eighth out of 11 teams with 34 points. College of Charleston topped the poll with 92 points and five first-place votes, followed by Hofstra (90), Towson (88), and North Carolina A&T (68), each receiving at least one first-place vote.
Elon kicks off its 2025 season at home on Aug. 29, hosting Coppin State at Schar Center. First serve is set for 6 p.m., and all home matches will feature free admission.
