Arizona Basketball Eyes Top 2026 Recruiting Target
Arizona basketball is in the midst of a heated recruiting race for one of the top prospects in the 2026 class. 
Since taking over as head coach, Tommy Lloyd has quickly become one of college basketball’s rising stars, posting an impressive 112-33 record over the last four seasons. Under his leadership, Arizona has made the NCAA Tournament every year and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen three times.
Last season marked a new chapter for Arizona as the Wildcats left the Pac-12 to join the Big 12 Conference. In their debut season in the new conference, Arizona finished 24-13 and placed third in the standings. The team also made it to the Big 12 Tournament finals but fell short in a 72-64 loss to Houston, which later advanced to the National Championship game.
The Wildcats’ offseason saw some key departures: star guard Caleb Love graduated, and forward Carter Bryant was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs as the 14th overall pick. Additionally, KJ Lewis and Henri Veesaar transferred to other Power 5 programs.
Despite these departures, Arizona will still be a strong contender with key returners Jaden Badley, Tobe Awaka, Anthony Dell’Orso, and Motiejus Krivas. Furthermore, Lloyd’s recruiting efforts have paid off, as the Wildcats secured the No. 2 recruiting class according to 24/7 Sports.
Now, Arizona is focused on securing more talent for the 2026 class, and they’ve set their sights on five-star prospect Cameron Holmes. Holmes, a 6-foot-6, 195-pound small forward from Goodyear, Ariz., and Millennium High School, is one of the top players in his class, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Arizona has long been dominant in recruiting top local talent, with names like Richard Jefferson, Channing Frye, Jerryd Bayless, Deandre Ayton, and more recently Koa Peat, all choosing the Wildcats over other major programs.
Holmes recently narrowed his list to six schools: Arizona, Gonzaga, North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma, and Illinois. According to 24/7 Sports’ Dushawn London, Holmes has scheduled official visits to Illinois (Sept. 12), North Carolina (Sept. 19), Oklahoma (Oct. 3), Texas (Oct. 31), Gonzaga (Nov. 7), and Arizona, who will get the final visit on Dec. 5 when they host Auburn.
Arizona is certainly in the mix for this high-profile recruit, and fans are eager to see if they can land Holmes as part of another strong recruiting class.
