Ravens Lose Promising Defensive Lineman to Titans

The Baltimore Ravens parted ways with several players during final roster cuts, and one of those players has quickly landed elsewhere in the AFC.

Defensive lineman C.J. Ravenell, who was waived by the Ravens, was claimed by the Tennessee Titans, according to the NFL’s official transaction report.

Ravenell, 25, signed with Baltimore as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft and spent last season on the team’s practice squad. He had hopes of cracking the 53-man roster this year and impressed during preseason action, recording six tackles and a quarterback hit.

Despite his efforts, Ravenell didn’t make the final roster, as the Ravens opted to carry only five defensive linemen: Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones, Broderick Washington, John Jenkins, and rookie Aenas Peebles.

A standout at Missouri Western State, Ravenell played in 43 games from 2018 to 2023. Over that span, he totaled 164 tackles, 14.5 sacks, 38 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, a pass deflection, and a blocked kick. He earned All-MIAA honors in each of his four active college seasons. He redshirted in 2018, and the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, the 6-foot-5, 300-pound lineman will have a fresh opportunity in Tennessee — and he’ll be reuniting with former Ravens cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis, who was also recently waived by Baltimore and claimed by the Titans.

Armour-Davis, a former fourth-round pick out of Alabama, was one of the more unexpected cuts. While talented and versatile, injuries have limited him to just 19 appearances and three starts over the past three seasons.
