Kalen DeBoer Reflects on Alabama’s Dominant Win Over Louisiana-Monroe

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer addressed the media following the Crimson Tide’s 73-0 blowout victory over Louisiana-Monroe in Week 2, which improved the team’s record to 1-1 on the season.

DeBoer’s Opening Comments:

“I thought the guys played with a real sense of purpose. From the moment we got to the stadium, their movements reflected the effort they put in throughout the week. It’s just one game, though, and we have to maintain that focus and intensity. The guys did well playing consistently from start to finish. They didn’t get distracted by the scoreboard—they focused on playing their best, and they celebrated each other’s successes. That kind of team chemistry is important, and it’s something we need to build on.”

Key Points from DeBoer’s Press Conference:

  • On the team’s resiliency: “Our performance tonight is all we can control. It’s frustrating to have setbacks, but it is what it is. The resilience I saw from the guys was impressive. After last week’s loss, they were ready to work by Sunday, and that mindset is what we need to carry forward.”
  • On offensive line competition: “The competition on the offensive line is something we’ve always emphasized, and it’s a key to bringing out the best in each player. We did the same thing last year, and it leads to better execution. There’s still room for improvement, but I’m happy with the way the guys are pushing each other.”
  • On individual player performances: “London Simmons stepped up when we needed him, especially with Tim Keenan and Jeremiah Beaman out. He played well on kickoff and made a key third-down catch in their territory. That’s something he’s really good at—playing bigger than his size.”
  • On running back play: “It was a group effort from the running backs. Kevin had a strong performance, getting a lot of carries early. He’s been impressive the past few weeks—running hard and doing well in the passing game too.”
  • On defense: “The defense did a great job pursuing the ball and getting takeaways. That kind of mentality is contagious, and we saw a better start this week compared to last.”
  • On quarterback Ty’s performance: “Ty looked calm and in control. He was able to go through his progressions, which was good to see. His 17-for-17 performance was impressive, but the guys around him made plays as well. We planned to get Austin in for some action, and it worked out well.”

Final Thoughts:
“I really liked how the guys celebrated each other’s successes and played with purpose. It’s just one game, but the focus and effort were exactly what we needed. We’ve got to keep building on this and stay consistent moving forward.”
