Arizona Secures Another Four-Star Recruit
Arizona has been on a hot streak in recruiting, adding its second four-star recruit for the 2026 class.
After a disappointing 2024-25 season where the Wildcats finished 19-14 and missed the NCAA Tournament, head coach Burke faced the challenge of rebuilding her roster. Most of the previous season’s players left, with only forward Montaya Dew remaining. Burke had to work quickly, bringing in a mix of transfers and recruits late in the process.
“I would like to thank President (Suresh) Garimella and Desireé for this wonderful opportunity to lead Arizona Women’s Basketball, a program with such a rich tradition,” Burke said. “Wildcats’ fans fully understand the role that elite culture plays in building a program that wins championships. Our staff will be ready to make that a reality as we call Tucson home.”
Now with the roster in place, Burke is focusing on the future, looking to rebuild the program and return to the NCAA Tournament. So far, Arizona has secured commitments from Priyanka Ponnam, Callie Hinder, and four-star recruit Jasleen Green for the 2026 class.
Additionally, the Wildcats have strengthened their 2025-26 roster with the addition of forward Blessing Adebanjo, who comes from a university in Japan.
“I chose Arizona because the coaches and staff recognized my potential, supported my journey from Japan to the U.S., and offered a program that could transform my basketball career and life,” Adebanjo said. “This made it the ideal place for me to grow both on and off the court. I can’t wait to start this next chapter.”
On Saturday afternoon, the Wildcats kept the momentum going by landing another commitment. This time, Arizona secured four-star guard Makayla Presser-Palmer, despite a late push from Wake Forest during her campus visit. Burke and her staff managed to win over Presser-Palmer, giving Arizona its second four-star recruit for the 2026 class.
Burke’s success in landing top-tier recruits is a testament to her reputation as a dynamic recruiter, even coming off a less-than-ideal season for the program. The Wildcats’ ability to attract high-level talent signals a bright future under Burke’s leadership.
