Michigan Football’s Hopes Dim for 2026 WR as Decision Nears

Class of 2026 three-star wide receiver Christian Ward, from IMG Academy, has Michigan in his top four but is expected to commit next week on September 24, according to Rivals.

Despite Michigan remaining in the race and Ward visiting Ann Arbor in March, reports suggest the Buffaloes are currently leading the recruitment. According to Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong, Ward himself confirmed Colorado’s strong position after visiting Deion Sanders’ program earlier this month.

“They’re at the top of my list,” Ward said, reflecting on his visit to Boulder. “It was a great experience—I got to check out the facilities, spend time with the staff, and really get a feel for life there. The energy around the program is real, and being on campus made it even clearer.”

Even if the Wolverines miss out on Ward, which is looking likely, Michigan’s wide receiver coach Ron Bellamy and the staff are still in a strong position with three other wideouts committed for the 2026 class: Zion Robinson, Jaylen Pile, and Travis Johnson.

Michigan’s 2026 recruiting class, under Sherrone Moore, currently has 23 verbal commitments and is ranked No. 10 in the nation, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings.

🚨NEWS🚨 WR Christian Ward will announce his commitment on September 24⌛️

Ward’s finalists are Alabama, Colorado, Michigan and Arizona State.
