Marshall’s Del Rio-Wilson, Coastal Carolina’s Arinze & Troy’s Crenshaw Reap Sun Belt Football Weekly Honors
NEW ORLEANS – After playing key roles in helping their teams even their records at 2-2, Marshall’s Carlos Del Rio-Wilson, Coastal Carolina’s Noah Arinze, and Troy’s Evan Crenshaw have earned this week’s Sun Belt football honors.
Offensive Player of the Week
Carlos Del Rio-Wilson, Marshall
(RS Jr., QB – Atlanta, Ga.)
Marshall quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson delivered a career performance in the Thundering Herd’s 42-28 victory over Middle Tennessee. The redshirt junior threw for 261 yards and four touchdowns on 18-of-22 passing, both career highs, and added a rushing score. Del Rio-Wilson spearheaded a 21-0 fourth-quarter surge that sealed the non-conference win.
Defensive Player of the Week
Noah Arinze, Coastal Carolina
(Sr., DL – St. Louis, Mo.)
Chanticleers defensive lineman Noah Arinze was dominant in Coastal Carolina’s 38-20 win against South Alabama. The senior tallied four tackles, two tackles for loss, and two sacks. His biggest moment came late in the game when he forced a strip sack, setting up a defensive touchdown that closed out the victory.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Evan Crenshaw, Troy
(Jr., P – Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.)
Troy punter Evan Crenshaw was instrumental in the Trojans’ dramatic 21-17 comeback over Buffalo. Averaging 52.2 yards per punt, Crenshaw launched three kicks of 50+ yards and placed three inside the 20. His clutch 53-yard punt with just over four minutes remaining pinned Buffalo deep, sparking the defensive stop and game-winning drive that followed.
