Texas A\&M Veteran Offensive Lineman Close to Returning
Reuben Fatheree II is nearing his return to the field. As the Aggies approach Week 5 of the 2025 season, they’ll face Auburn, a team that pushed Texas A\&M to a four-overtime game last year, with the Tigers ultimately emerging victorious. Despite a solid start to the season, the Aggies still have some areas to address, including reintegrating injured players like offensive lineman Reuben Fatheree.
Fatheree, who sustained a knee injury before the season began, has been sidelined but is progressing in his recovery. Head coach Mike Elko provided an update on his status, saying, “He’s getting really close. He was able to practice today, so we’re hopeful we’ll have him in some capacity on Saturday.”
Impact of Fatheree’s Absence
The fifth-year senior from Richmond, Texas, has been a staple of the Aggies’ offensive line for the past four years. Last season, Fatheree played in every game, including time spent with the special teams. In the Aggies’ 33-20 victory over Florida, the offensive line was credited with a key role in a 99-yard touchdown drive. In that game, quarterback Marcel Reed made his first start, and Fatheree ensured he wasn’t sacked.
Fatheree’s contributions were also crucial in Texas A\&M’s upset win over then-No. 8 LSU, where the offensive line helped the team rush for 242 yards and five touchdowns.
“He’s kind of right at that spot,” Elko said, referring to Fatheree’s return. “If I had to guess, he’ll be listed as questionable or probable on Wednesday.”
The Aggies’ offensive line, which returns all five starters, benefits from the familiarity and trust they’ve built together. With Fatheree in his final year, Texas A\&M is eager to get him back on the field when he’s ready. If his practice performance is any indication, he could see action against Auburn, depending on how he feels leading up to the game.
