The Illini extended an offer to five-star prospect Isaiah Hill over this past weekend. Here’s what to know about Hill:

Illinois coach Brad Underwood and his staff have long been pursuing prospects in the 2026 and 2027 classes, with most fitting into one of two molds: versatile wings or perimeter shooters.

This past weekend, one of those key targets—2026 wing Lucas Morillo—made an official visit to Champaign. Alongside Morillo, the Illini welcomed several other recruits on unofficial visits, including one especially noteworthy guest: five-star center Isaiah Hill.

Underwood and his staff haven’t shown much activity in pursuing big men in recent months, but Isaiah Hill has certainly grabbed their attention. In fact, the class of 2027 standout announced on Instagram that he received an Illini offer late Saturday night.

Here’s a closer look at Hill:

Isaiah Hill scouting report

Hill combines bounce and length with sharp defensive instincts. As a rim protector, he blocks shots at an impressive rate, excelling both in one-on-one situations and as a help defender.

Offensively, his size and athleticism make him a constant lob target and a force on the offensive boards. While his frame is still on the lean side, Hill’s energy, toughness, and relentless motor help compensate for any lack of bulk.

His shooting form is somewhat unconventional—common for players his age and stature—but he hits from beyond the arc at a respectable clip. Just as important, Hill shoots with confidence, a strong indicator that his perimeter game will continue to develop.

Overall, Hill remains a raw prospect, but his rare physical tools and developing jumper suggest significant upside. Combined with his toughness and competitiveness, he also carries a relatively strong floor.

Hill’s background and recruitment

A native of Indianapolis, Hill plays at Pike High School, a program with a history of producing NBA talent—including Jeff Teague, who now serves as Pike’s head coach.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Hill is a five-star prospect, ranked No. 20 nationally and the top player in Indiana for the class of 2027.

His Instagram page shows he already holds at least 11 Division I offers, with notable suitors including Oregon, Louisville, Indiana, and, as expected for any seven-footer from Indiana, Purdue.
