Tennessee is already looking ahead to its 2027 basketball class.

Four-star combo guard LJ Smith is set to take an unofficial visit to Knoxville on Oct. 11, per 247Sports’ Dushawn London. He also has visits lined up with Georgia and North Carolina.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound guard plays at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, the same program that produced former Vol Ron Slay.

Smith is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 combo guard in his class and the No. 2 overall player in Virginia.

Memphis was the first school to offer him back in May 2024, and since then he’s picked up offers from a long list of programs, including West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Indiana, and several others.

Tennessee hasn’t landed a commitment yet for its 2026 basketball recruiting class. However, the Vols already have six pledges in their 2025 class: forward DeWayne Brown, small forward Amari Evans, point guard Troy Henderson, forward Nate Ament, and shooting guards Clarence Massamba and Ethan Burg.
