Pacers Sign Former Heat Guard Who Hasn’t Played in Years
The Indiana Pacers have signed Indiana native Kyle Guy to an Exhibit 10 contract as they kick off their training camp, following their recent appearance in the NBA Finals. With star player Tyrese Haliburton unavailable, it will be a tough challenge for the Pacers to make another Finals run, but they are actively working to build competition for their roster.
Although not all the players signed will make the final roster, the Pacers are bringing in fresh talent to evaluate. One surprising move was the signing of Kyle Guy, who hasn’t played in the NBA for three years and had already begun a career in coaching.
Kyle Guy Signs Exhibit 10 Deal with Pacers
The Pacers have signed Guy, a shooting guard from Indiana, to an Exhibit 10 contract, despite his absence from the NBA since playing his last game with the Miami Heat three years ago. Before this signing, Guy had transitioned to coaching, serving on the staff at Nevada. However, now it appears he’ll be playing with the G League’s Noblesville Boom, potentially as part of the Pacers’ developmental system.
This signing comes as a bit of a surprise, especially given Guy’s minimal NBA experience. Over three seasons, he never appeared in more than 31 games. He spent his most recent season in Europe, playing in Spain’s top league before announcing his decision to move into coaching.
Unlikely That Guy Will See NBA Action
While an Exhibit 10 contract typically gives a player the opportunity to play with the NBA team that signed them, it’s unlikely that Guy will see any action with the Pacers. Guy isn’t a point guard and has never been known for his defense, and with the Pacers already well-stocked at shooting guard, he will likely spend his time with the team in the G League.
In his NBA career, Guy averaged 3.1 points, 1 rebound, and 0.9 assists per game, shooting 36.1% from the field and 30.3% from three-point range.
