What Gonzaga’s Mark Few Said After 2025 Kraziness in the Kennel
Gonzaga unofficially kicked off the 2025–26 season with its annual Kraziness in the Kennel event, offering fans an early glimpse at a talented roster, a few program legends, and the debut of a long-awaited transfer.
The night was packed with highlights, including a strong showing from the Bulldogs’ frontcourt duo, Steele Venters’ impressive return, and appearances from Gonzaga greats Drew Timme, Chet Holmgren, and Kelly Olynyk via video.
Steele Venters, who missed the past two seasons due to injury, made a memorable comeback — winning the 3-point contest and shining in a competitive intrasquad scrimmage that once again went down to the wire.
Team Navy, led by newcomers Braeden Smith, Jalen Warley, and Adam Miller, edged Team White 41-39. Braden Huff led all scorers with 17 points, Graham Ike nearly posted a double-double (8 points, 10 rebounds), and Venters hit three shots from beyond the arc.
Tyon Grant-Foster, a transfer from Grand Canyon who recently received practice clearance from the NCAA after a long summer wait, didn’t score but drew attention due to his unique situation.

On Tyon Grant-Foster’s Late Arrival
“We didn’t plan to play him tonight, but he wanted to. He’s only had two practices, so he’s still learning the system on both ends. It’s been great having him here, even if the NCAA’s timing was frustrating.”
On Steele Venters’ Comeback
“It’s just awesome. Everyone’s pulling for him after two tough years. He’s in great shape, and honestly, he’s looked like this all summer.”
On Jalen Warley’s Versatility
“Jalen’s one of those guys who just makes an impact in so many ways. He defends, rebounds, attacks — he’s got a real feel for the game. At the end, he was guarding Huff and giving him problems. Having him and Emmanuel [Innocenti] is a real luxury. Their size and defensive intensity have been huge.”
On the Progress of Graham Ike and Braden Huff
“They’ve put in a lot of work, especially on their 3-point shooting. They’ve got great chemistry, connecting on high-lows and short passes inside. They’re going to get a lot of touches this year — I think they’re one of the best big-man tandems in college basketball.”
On Freshman Davis Fogle
“He’s fearless and physical. His size on the wing stands out. He mixes it up on the boards, and defensively his length helps him recover. He’s got a solid midrange game and is working hard to improve his 3-point shot.”
