South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer has dismissed offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley, GamecockCentral has learned.
According to sources, running game coordinator and tight ends coach Shawn Elliott will assume offensive line coaching duties for the remainder of the season, a move confirmed by both me and Chris Clark.
An official announcement from the university is expected later today (UPDATE: South Carolina has since confirmed the news).
Teasley was in his third year as the full-time offensive line coach, having stepped into the role permanently in January 2023 after replacing Greg Adkins. He initially handled the Gamecocks’ on-field offensive line coaching responsibilities in 2022, when Adkins’ health issues temporarily limited his availability.
Teasley became part of South Carolina’s coaching staff in 2021 as an offensive analyst, following two seasons as the offensive line coach at North Carolina Central University.
Shawn Elliott brings extensive experience to the role, having previously served as South Carolina’s offensive line coach under Steve Spurrier from 2010 to 2015 and under Will Muschamp in 2016. He also acted as the interim head coach for the final six games of the 2015 season. Before his time in Columbia, Elliott coached the offensive line at Appalachian State from 2001 to 2009. He made his return to South Carolina in 2024, after spending seven years as the head coach at Georgia State.
The Gamecocks (3-3, 1-3 SEC) are set to host the Oklahoma Sooners (5-1, 1-1 SEC) on Saturday, October 18, with kickoff scheduled for 12:45 p.m. ET. The matchup will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
