Oregon Ducks Intensify Recruitment of 2027 Tight End Charles Davis
After successfully landing top-tier tight ends in recent recruiting cycles, the Oregon Ducks are now turning their attention to the 2027 class — with three-star prospect Charles Davis emerging as a top target. Davis, who recently transitioned from wide receiver to tight end, has quickly become one of the more intriguing and underrated recruits in his class.
Davis received an offer from Oregon in September and has since been feeling the momentum build between himself and the Ducks’ program. A recent visit to Eugene only strengthened that connection.
A Standout Visit
Davis visited Oregon during their 30-20 loss to Indiana, and despite the outcome, he came away thoroughly impressed with the program — calling Oregon his top choice.
“That’s No. 1 for sure. That’s the top school right now,” Davis told Rivals. “The environment was crazy. The fans were amazing — super supportive even after the loss. The atmosphere was unforgettable. I had great conversations with Coach Drew [tight ends coach], Coach Nick [player personnel], and I met Coach Lanning — he’s straightforward and very cool.”
Davis’ Recruiting Profile
Ranked No. 552 nationally and No. 70 in California by 247Sports Composite, Davis continues to rise in recruiting circles. Oregon became the fourth Power 4 school to offer him on September 19, joining Utah, Cincinnati, Minnesota, and West Virginia. He’s also made a previous visit to San Diego State earlier this year.
As he continues developing at tight end, Davis could elevate his stock significantly and emerge as one of the best at his position on the West Coast.
Oregon’s Tight End Recruiting Success
The Ducks have been aggressive — and effective — at recruiting the tight end spot in recent years:
- In the 2025 class, Oregon flipped four-star Vander Ploog from Washington. He was ranked as the No. 13 tight end and No. 244 overall player nationally.
- In 2026, Oregon landed five-star Kendre Harrison, the No. 2 tight end and No. 25 overall prospect. Harrison, a dual-sport athlete committed to both football and basketball at Oregon, could compete for immediate playing time.
With current starter Kenyon Sadiq expected to declare for the NFL Draft in 2026 and backup Jamari Johnson next in line, the Ducks are building depth. That opens the door for young talent like Ploog, Harrison — and potentially Charles Davis — to make their mark.
As Davis’ recruitment heats up, Oregon has clearly positioned itself as a front-runner in landing another key piece for its future tight end room.
