Breaking: South Carolina GameCocks Strikes Gold
The Four-start quarterback says this is where he belongs a month away from early national signing day.
South Carolina Locks In Top Quarterback Commit Landon Duckworth Ahead of Early Signing Day
With less than a month to go before early national signing day, South Carolina landed major recruiting news Wednesday evening as quarterback Landon Duckworth — the crown jewel of the Gamecocks’ 2026 class — officially shut down his recruitment. Duckworth now stands as the highest-rated quarterback commit of head coach Shane Beamer’s tenure in Columbia.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound standout from Jackson High School in Jackson, Alabama first committed to South Carolina in August 2023, before reopening his recruitment in June 2024. Over the summer, he narrowed his options to South Carolina and Auburn, ultimately reaffirming his pledge to the Gamecocks — and this time, he’s locked in for good.
Duckworth put together an exceptional junior season for Jackson High, leading the Aggies to a 14-1 record and the Alabama 4A state championship. He completed 162 of 243 passes (66.7%) for 3,439 yards, 39 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, while also rushing 62 times for 648 yards (10.5 yards per carry) and 12 more scores.
A gifted multi-sport athlete, Duckworth has also claimed state titles in basketball and gold medals in track and field. On the hardwood, he averaged 10.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game as a junior. In track, he posted standout marks with a 23.18-second 200-meter dash, a 6-foot high jump, and a 17-foot-8-inch long jump, per Athletic.net.
Dynamic Player

247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins believes Landon Duckworth is perfectly built for the modern era of college football.
“[He’s a] dynamic, dual-threat quarterback with rare physical tools — the kind of player who might need both hands to count all the rings he’s collected in high school,” Ivins wrote. “He’s tailor-made for today’s spread offenses, combining a quick release with strong zone-read instincts.”
Much like LaNorris Sellers when he first arrived as a true freshman, Duckworth could benefit from a redshirt year to refine his game. Still, if everything comes together as projected, the quarterback play in Columbia could be something special for years to come.
