Seahawks Add Playmaker, Release Rookie in First Post-Deadline Moves
The Seattle Seahawks have begun reshaping their roster following the NFL trade deadline, announcing several transactions as they prepare for the second half of the season. The team added a rookie tight end to its practice squad while parting ways with an offensive lineman.
Seattle signed tight end Marshall Lang to the practice squad on November 6, 2025, and released rookie offensive tackle Logan Brown to make room for the move. Earlier in the week, the Seahawks also released safety Jerrick Reed to clear a roster spot for newly acquired wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, while also signing former Chiefs receiver Mac Dalena to the practice squad.
It’s been a busy stretch for Seattle’s front office as they continue to adjust the roster after the trade deadline.
Seahawks Reunite With Rookie TE Marshall Lang
The move marks a reunion with Marshall Lang, who previously spent training camp with Seattle before being released. Lang also had a short stint with the New England Patriots, lasting just three days before being waived on October 16.
During his college career at Northwestern, Lang totaled 48 catches for 491 yards and four touchdowns over five seasons. He joins a Seahawks roster that already features several tight ends competing for snaps.
Rashid Shaheed Brings Speed and Versatility to Seattle
The biggest headline of the week, however, is the trade for wide receiver Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints. Known for his elite speed and deep-threat ability, Shaheed adds another explosive element to Seattle’s offense and can also contribute on special teams as a returner.
The move reunites Shaheed with offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who previously worked with him in New Orleans.
“It didn’t feel like we were missing something,” head coach Mike Macdonald told Seahawks.com. “It was just an opportunity to add a great player and enhance what we’re already doing.”
Sam Darnold Excited to Build Chemistry With Shaheed
Quarterback Sam Darnold has already expressed enthusiasm about working with his new weapon. Ahead of Seattle’s Week 10 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, Darnold has been focused on building timing and trust with Shaheed.
“We’re really excited to have him,” Darnold said via Seahawks.com. “I’m just trying to throw as many routes as possible with him—without hurting my arm—and keep building that confidence. You can tell he’s really smart, and having familiarity with the system already helps a lot.”
The Seahawks’ flurry of roster activity signals the team’s commitment to bolstering depth and adding playmakers as they make their push toward the postseason.
