Michigan Football Among Finalists for Nation’s Top Quarterback as Decision Nears
Can Michigan secure one of the most sought-after quarterbacks in the country? Head coach Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines are aiming to finish their 2026 recruiting class on a high note as the early signing period approaches in December. At the same time, the staff has its sights set on the future — particularly on landing a premier quarterback from the 2028 class who is set to announce his college decision soon.
According to Rivals’ Adam Gorney, 2028 quarterback Jayden Wade of IMG Academy will reveal his commitment on November 16.
Michigan is among the seven programs still in the running for Wade, joining Georgia, Texas, Florida, Ohio State, Oregon, and Washington. Per the Rivals Industry Rankings, Wade currently holds the title of No. 1 overall prospect in the 2028 recruiting cycle.
In his first full season at IMG, Wade has been outstanding — passing for over 1,200 yards, 17 touchdowns, and only two interceptions, while also adding three rushing scores and guiding his team to an unbeaten 9-0 record as a sophomore.
Regardless of whether the Wolverines ultimately land him, Wade’s recruitment is far from over. With years remaining before he officially signs, many top programs are expected to continue pursuing the talented signal-caller.
As of now, Michigan does not yet have a commitment for the class of 2028.
