Florida State Lands 2026 Safety Jordan Crutchfield After Flip from Kentucky
Three-star safety Jordan Crutchfield from Fort Pierce (Fla.) Vero Beach has officially flipped his commitment from Kentucky to Florida State.
Crutchfield had been committed to the Wildcats since June 11 but will now stay in Florida, joining an FSU class ranked among the top 15 in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
“Going to Florida State has always been in my thoughts,” Crutchfield told Rivals. “With the way college recruiting works now, you’re always looking for the best fit.”
Why FSU? Crutchfield explained: “They have one of the greatest sports cultures. Plus, it’s close to home, so I can see my family more often. Overall, it’s an amazing program with a rich history and great players to match.”
Crutchfield is ranked as the No. 469 overall prospect and No. 42 safety in the 2026 class according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He is also the No. 60 recruit in Florida.
At 6-foot-2.5 and 195 pounds, Crutchfield visited FSU’s campus in Tallahassee over the weekend. He expressed enthusiasm about the program’s upgrades and renovations, saying, “They’ve made a lot of changes. I like it—it’s very spacious, and there’s even more to come.”
Crutchfield now becomes the fifth defensive back in FSU’s 2026 class, joining a strong defensive backfield that has been a priority for head coach Mike Norvell. The Seminoles now have 27 total commits, with National Signing Day fast approaching.
FSU’s Strong Recruiting Push Continues
Despite some uncertainty surrounding the FSU coaching staff and another challenging season, the Seminoles continue to recruit effectively. Crutchfield’s commitment adds to a growing class that could push for a top-10 national ranking with a few more high-profile flips.
Other notable recent flips include Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County four-star wide receiver Devin Carter, who decommitted from Auburn in June to return to FSU as a legacy recruit. Additionally, Mustang (Okla.) four-star quarterback Jaden O’Neal flipped from Oklahoma, now ranking as the No. 25 QB in the country. Jacksonville (Fla.) Bolles School three-star tight end Corbyn Fordham, another FSU legacy, flipped from Ohio State, while Powder Springs (Ga.) Hillgrove three-star EDGE Chris Carbin switched from Georgia Tech.
Earlier this week, FSU added JUCO four-star EDGE Jalen Anderson, the No. 6 JUCO prospect in the cycle.
The class is also anchored by top-100 prospects, including Sarasota (Fla.) Booker four-star cornerback Chauncey Kennon and Leesburg (Fla.) Tavares four-star linebacker Izayia Williams. Despite a few decommitments, Williams remains a top-tier recruit and the No. 1 linebacker in the Rivals300, while Kennon is ranked as the No. 6 corner in the industry rankings.
