Max Verstappen makes huge Red Bull demand as F1 title hopes boosted
Max Verstappen Issues Red Bull Warning as His F1 Title Chances Improve
Max Verstappen has insisted that Red Bull must deliver “perfect” performances in the final two races if he is to capture the drivers’ championship, which is suddenly within reach.

For most of the season, Verstappen was not viewed as a realistic contender. But a major surge in form after the summer break has put him back into the hunt. McLaren’s double disqualification in Las Vegas tightened the standings even further, leaving Verstappen only 24 points behind leader Lando Norris.
Despite the dramatic shift in momentum, Verstappen says his mindset remains unchanged.
“The points gap closed after Vegas, but heading into Qatar we’ll keep the same approach as always—take it race by race,” he said.
“We go into every weekend aiming to score as many points as possible and get everything we can out of the car. That won’t change now.”
With this weekend featuring a sprint format, additional points will be available. However, with McLaren still expected to be strong, Verstappen stressed that Red Bull must avoid mistakes if it wants a shot at the championship.
“It’s a sprint weekend, so there are even more points on the table, and we can only afford a flawless performance,” he said.
“Lusail is a tough track—the heat puts a huge emphasis on tyre management, and the mandatory two-stop means execution is everything.
“We’re focused on keeping the momentum going, and everyone in the team is pushing hard to deliver the best performance possible.”
