USC Trojans Secure First Transfer Portal Addition
The USC Trojans are set to make their first transfer portal addition of the offseason, welcoming former Oklahoma State defensive back Carrington Pierce once the portal officially opens. Pierce will reunite with his brother, USC safety Christian Pierce, continuing a growing family presence within the program.
USC’s roster is beginning to reflect more than just positional depth — it’s increasingly built on family ties. With Carrington Pierce’s commitment, the Trojans are expected to feature three different sets of brothers: the Pierce brothers, the Miller brothers (running back King, offensive lineman Kaylon, and recent signee Kayne), and the Longstreet brothers, Husan and Kevin. The trend highlights USC’s emphasis on familiarity and chemistry as Lincoln Riley reshapes the roster.
Pierce’s commitment marks USC’s first portal pickup of the offseason and underscores a broader strategy of building continuity and long-term cohesion within the program.
A Raw Prospect With Intriguing Upside
Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 190 pounds, Pierce possesses the size USC values at cornerback. His football journey, however, is far from conventional.
Pierce did not begin playing organized football until 2024, when he enrolled at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Despite being new to the sport, he made an immediate impact in 11 games, recording 24 tackles (14 solo), three tackles for loss, three interceptions, and six pass breakups. His rapid development was particularly notable given his background as a high school basketball standout.
That breakout JUCO season earned Pierce a scholarship to Oklahoma State, where he joined the program as a developmental defensive back. He did not appear in a game during his lone season with the Cowboys, opting to redshirt while refining his technique and adjusting to the college level.
Portal Move Brings Pierce Back Home
Pierce entered the transfer portal in October following Oklahoma State’s coaching change, which created an opportunity for him to return to California. That path ultimately led him to USC.
Originally from Fontana, Pierce attracted interest from multiple programs, including Nebraska, San Diego State, and Toledo, and had previously received recruitment attention from UCLA and Kansas during his junior college tenure. He officially announced his commitment to USC on Sunday, coinciding with his brother Christian’s announcement that he would return for his senior season in 2026.
Pierce is ranked No. 467 overall and No. 57 among cornerbacks in the On3 Industry Transfer Portal Rankings. With three years of eligibility remaining, he arrives at USC as a high-upside developmental addition with ample time to grow into a meaningful role.
