“Blessed To Receive the offer” National Top-Three Safety Flips From Clemson to Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech has secured a commitment from one of the state’s top athletes, Tae Harris, who previously committed to play for an ACC rival. Harris announced on Saturday via X (formerly Twitter) that he plans to join the Yellow Jackets starting in 2025. Rated as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite, he is recognized as the nation’s No. 3 safety. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound senior from Cedartown High School initially committed to Clemson in March and has reportedly received over 20 scholarship offers. He attended Tech’s recent victory over North Carolina State at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
Despite stating in September that “my recruitment is 100% closed,” Harris had also committed to Georgia in June 2023. In addition to football, he intended to compete on Clemson’s track and field team. This season, Harris recorded 70 tackles—four for loss—and also forced and recovered a fumble. He played running back for Cedartown, rushing for 1,018 yards on 76 carries and scoring 15 touchdowns, along with eight receptions for 262 yards and three scores. In October, Harris was named to the Mr. Georgia Football watch list. He finished as the state runner-up in the 200-meter championship in 2024 with a time of 21.21 seconds and won the region title in the 100m with a time of 10.6 seconds.
With Harris on board, Tech now has 22 commitments for the 2025 class, making him the second-highest rated prospect among them. The class is currently ranked 17th nationally and second in the ACC. He joins a talented group that includes quarterback Grady Adamson (Edmond, Okla.), offensive lineman Damola Ajidahun (Duluth), defensive backs Jayden Barr (Eastside) and others, along with a host of skilled players across various positions.
