Nebraska football adds one of the top available players at offensive tackle in former Alabama lineman Elijah Pritchett
Nebraska football aimed to enhance their depth at offensive tackle through the transfer portal, and they’ve successfully addressed that need.
Elijah Pritchett, an offensive tackle from Alabama, will be signing with Nebraska, providing the Huskers with a proven starter for one of their tackle positions in 2025.
Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 327 pounds, Pritchett is a former five-star recruit who started 12 out of 13 games for the Crimson Tide this season. He began the season as the left tackle after Kadyn Proctor suffered a shoulder injury in warmups, came off the bench in Week 2 against South Florida, and then took on the role of right tackle from Week 3 onward. Pro Football Focus recorded that Pritchett logged 619 offensive snaps in 2024, with 64 at left tackle and 555 at right tackle.
The recruitment of Pritchett by Nebraska happened quickly; he entered the transfer portal on January 4 and visited Lincoln on Tuesday morning, where he ended up committing to the program.
Despite facing challenges this past season, including allowing a team-high 31 pressures and six sacks, along with some legal issues off the field, Pritchett’s change of environment could be advantageous for the Huskers.
Nebraska has a significant need at offensive tackle, as long-time right tackle Bryce Benhart has exhausted his eligibility, while the team’s top left tackles, Teddy Prochazka and Turner Corcoran, have struggled with injuries. Gunnar Gottula, a redshirt sophomore in 2025, played in 11 games with nine starts at left tackle in 2024.
Pritchett redshirted during his first year at Alabama in 2022 and participated in all 14 games on special teams in 2023, while also rotating along the offensive line.
Originally from Columbus, Georgia, Pritchett was ranked as the No. 31 overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting class and was the No. 5 offensive tackle according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
