The Las Vegas Raiders are undergoing a major overhaul this offseason. Just two days after parting ways with head coach Antonio Pierce, the Raiders announced on Thursday that they have also fired general manager Tom Telesco after only one season.
“The Las Vegas Raiders have relieved Tom Telesco of his duties as general manager,” the team said in a statement. “We appreciate his efforts in helping to build a foundation for the future and wish him and his family all the best.”
Telesco was hired as general manager in January 2024, but the Raiders struggled throughout the 2024 season, finishing with a 4-13 record. The team’s troubles were largely attributed to issues at quarterback, as Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew alternated starts due to injuries and inconsistent play.
During the 2024 NFL draft, Telesco played a key role in selecting Georgia tight end Brock Bowers with the No. 13 pick. Bowers went on to set rookie records, catching 112 passes for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns.
Telesco, 52, had been hired by the Raiders shortly after being let go by the Los Angeles Chargers in December 2023. Over his 11-year tenure with the Chargers, the team posted an 88-108 record and won two playoff games, in 2013 and 2018.
With Telesco’s departure, the Raiders will now begin their search for a new general manager and head coach. Minority owner Tom Brady is expected to play a major role in both hiring decisions.
