Significant Update: Florida Panthers Receive Huge News on Relocation Plans

The Cats will continue to call the jungle — or Sunrise, FL — their home. There are plans for upgrades at Amerant Bank Arena, the home of the Florida Panthers since 1998, including the installation of a new scoreboard by the 2025-26 season. Team president Matt Caldwell mentioned that the new scoreboard will be positioned similarly to the existing one but will be raised closer to the rafters during concerts. Florida Panthers Executive Vice President of People & Facilities, Rob Stevenson, explained that the renovations are driven by the organization’s core values: providing an exceptional experience for fans, supporting their players and staff, and engaging with the community. “We’re thrilled to implement these enhancements throughout the arena and grateful for our team’s efforts in bringing them to fruition,” he added.

The most crucial renovations will focus on the upper deck sections, as most previous updates have been concentrated on the 100-level concourse. Many 300-level areas still resemble their original state from nearly 30 years ago. In September, the Panthers and the Broward County Board of Commissioners finalized an agreement to extend the lease at Amerant Bank Arena, which could keep the NHL team in Sunrise until 2043. A key change involves the shoot-twice end zone, where about 1,400 seats will be removed to create a viewing deck, similar to the one introduced by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2011. Although this will reduce the arena’s seating capacity, Caldwell noted that the new deck could accommodate 800 fans, resulting in only a slight overall reduction.

Additionally, the defending Stanley Cup champions have already implemented various significant upgrades to their arena at the start of this season, including advanced HVAC systems, a new LED sports lighting setup, improved ice conditions with two new Zambonis featuring FastICE System technology, and an innovative “Fanboni” experience.
