Former Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson faced a financial setback this week after a hit to his wallet. Despite an impressive second season with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, Robinson was fined $22,511 for unnecessary roughness following a play in the fourth quarter of the Falcons’ regular-season finale against the Carolina Panthers. The fine was a result of Robinson lowering his head and using his helmet to collide with Panthers defensive back Jordan Fuller, as reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Robinson, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, finished the regular season with 1,456 rushing yards (averaging 4.79 yards per carry) and 14 rushing touchdowns. He ranked third in rushing yards behind Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry and tied for fourth in rushing touchdowns. Additionally, Robinson contributed 431 receiving yards and one touchdown, solidifying his role as a key player for the Falcons.

Unfortunately, Robinson’s stellar performance couldn’t propel Atlanta to the playoffs. The Falcons were eliminated after a heartbreaking 30-24 overtime loss to the Washington Commanders in Week 17. Going into the final week of the season, Atlanta needed a win and a Tampa Bay Buccaneers loss to secure the NFC South title and a playoff spot. However, the Bucs defeated the New Orleans Saints 27-19, and shortly after, the Falcons fell to the Panthers 44-38 in overtime.

With the 2024 season now behind them, Robinson and the Falcons will look ahead to 2025, aiming to break their seven-year playoff drought.
