Jericho Sims, a player for the New York Knicks, is reportedly on the trade block, according to Stefan Bondy of The New York Post. Sims was unavailable for the Knicks’ Monday night game against the Detroit Pistons due to a back injury, which resulted in a 124-119 loss.
Bondy reported that the Knicks are actively shopping Sims ahead of the trade deadline next month, although his injury absence is unrelated to trade talks.
Sims has appeared in 32 games this season, averaging 1.7 points and 3.6 rebounds while shooting 63.2% from the field. The 26-year-old was selected 58th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft from Texas and has spent all four seasons with the Knicks. Over his career, he has averaged 2.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, with a 72.4% field goal percentage in 170 games.
With the loss to the Pistons, the Knicks’ record dropped to 26-15, placing them third in the Eastern Conference. They have gone 5-5 in their last ten games. Their next matchup will be against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday at the Wells Fargo Center.
In related news, SNY’s Ian Begley reported that former Knicks player Stephon Marbury was vocally supporting the team from behind the basket as they tried unsuccessfully to stop Detroit late in the game. Malik Beasley sealed the Pistons’ win with a three-pointer in the final seconds. Beasley has been exceptional from beyond the arc at Madison Square Garden this season, making 13 of 18 attempts.
