Samuel Mbake shared he’s set to visit East Carolina, along with Boise State, in the coming weeks.
One of the top junior college players in the nation is still available in the 2025 recruiting class and is nearing a decision about his future college destination.
Samuel Mbake, the highest-ranked junior college receiver for the 2025 cycle, announced on Twitter that he plans to visit East Carolina next weekend, January 24-26, followed by Boise State from January 31 to February 1. National Signing Day is scheduled for Wednesday, February 5. Mbake is set to graduate in May and will enroll in his chosen school this summer, with at least two years of eligibility remaining.
East Carolina has been actively recruiting Mbake since September, when receivers coach Dyrell Roberts extended an offer on September 26. Since then, Mbake has also visited UNLV and has received several other notable offers, including one from Boise State earlier in January.

During the most recent season, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound player recorded 17 receptions for 233 yards and a touchdown while playing for a run-focused Kilgore College (Texas) JUCO offense that averaged only 147 passing yards per game.
Originally a four-star recruit from North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Ga., Mbake received offers from several top programs in the 2022 class. As a true freshman, he participated in nine games on special teams but suffered an ACL tear, leading him to redshirt in 2023 before being removed from Arkansas’ program. Mbake was considered a strong candidate for a starting receiver position with the Razorbacks prior to his injury in preseason camp.
East Carolina finished the previous season with an 8-5 record, highlighted by a victory against NC State in the Military Bowl. This winter, the Pirates have infused their roster with potential starting slot receiver Jaquaize Pettaway from Oklahoma, who has already enrolled. However, ECU aims to enhance its talent at the outside receiver position, as only Anthony Smith and Yannick Smith are returning among the regular game players.
Boise State, representing the Mountain West Conference, made it to this season’s College Football Playoff but was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Penn State after receiving a bye in the first round. The Broncos are set to bring back three of their top four receivers from last season but are seeking to strengthen their depth at the position.
