Will Aaron Rodgers play football in 2025? The New York Jets’ quarterback situation will be a major focus this offseason.
New York’s immediate concern should be filling the head coach and general manager positions. With numerous interviews already conducted, it won’t be long before we start hearing about in-person interviews, a logical next step in the process.
The new GM and head coach will face the decision of whether or not to retain Aaron Rodgers for the 2025 season, assuming he opts to play another year. While keeping him for one more season seems like the simpler choice, it’s ultimately a decision beyond my expertise.
FOX Sports’ Ralph Vacchiano and Eric Williams analyzed potential quarterback openings and made suggestions, with Vacchiano mentioning Rodgers as a possibility for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“2024 primary starter: Russell Wilson (and) 2025 proposal: Sign Aaron Rodgers,” Vacchiano said. “Rodgers could come with his top receiver and close friend, Davante Adams, which would address one of the Steelers’ biggest needs. However, the Steelers might not tolerate the same demands Rodgers made in New York that contributed to the Jets’ issues. Still, Rodgers is driven to win and rebuild his reputation, making this an ideal opportunity for both.”
“This would likely be a short-term arrangement, perhaps just one or two years. The Steelers would need a reliable backup, given Rodgers’ injury history and age. But if they can keep him healthy and avoid the distractions that plagued the Jets, it could work out well for both sides.”
Although there has been some buzz about Rodgers potentially joining the Steelers, especially if Adams were included, reports suggest Pittsburgh isn’t currently interested. While a move seems unlikely, Rodgers’ return for another season remains a possibility if he decides to play.
