Charlotte Hornets center Mark Williams will miss his second consecutive game when the team faces the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday at Spectrum Center. The team announced on Thursday that Williams will be out for “injury management” regarding his recently injured foot.
Since returning from the foot injury, Williams has occasionally missed games, typically sitting out one of the nights during back-to-backs to manage the workload. This strategy makes sense, especially given the team’s challenging season.
However, it’s a bit concerning that Williams is sitting out the first night of a back-to-back after having a couple of days off. There’s speculation that the team could be holding him out to ensure he’s ready for Saturday’s game against the Denver Nuggets, but the reasoning for sitting him tonight remains unclear.
In addition to Williams, the Hornets will also be without LaMelo Ball (left ankle sprain), Tre Mann (disc irritation), and Cody Martin (sports hernia). Brandon Miller (right wrist) and Grant Williams (right ACL) are both out for the remainder of the season.
The game between the Hornets and Clippers is set to tip off at 7 p.m. EST.
