The Green Bay Packers are set to make significant changes to the cornerback position this offseason, as it was one of the team’s weak spots during the previous year.

Eric Stokes will not be re-signed, and the Green Bay Packers could also move on from cornerback Jaire Alexander. Additionally, Keisean Nixon’s future with the team is uncertain for the 2025 NFL season. The Packers will be exploring all options to strengthen the cornerback position for the upcoming season.

Pro Football Focus Writer Mason Cameron Thinks the Green Bay Packers Could Bring Back Rasul Douglas Next Season

Rasul Douglas, who was previously on the Packers roster, could make a return to Green Bay in 2025. Pro Football Focus writer Mason Cameron believes that the Packers are the best destination for Douglas next season. He noted, “The Packers traded Douglas to the Bills in 2023, but after a challenging 2024 season, a return to Green Bay seems likely this offseason. Douglas consistently posted a 71.0-plus PFF coverage grade during his time with the Packers. With Eric Stokes becoming a free agent and Jaire Alexander having missed much of the last two seasons, bringing Douglas back makes sense.”

Douglas, 29, will turn 30 on August 29, just before the start of the 2025 NFL season. Last year with the Buffalo Bills, he tallied 58 tackles, one forced fumble, no interceptions, and five pass deflections. If the Packers bring him back, he could be an upgrade over Eric Stokes as the number two cornerback.

A potential pairing of Douglas and Jaire Alexander could be in the cards, depending on how Green Bay handles Alexander’s situation. This will be one of the key decisions the franchise faces during the offseason.

Still Need To Find a Number One Corner

Currently, Jaire Alexander is the Packers’ number one cornerback, but that may change soon. Even if Green Bay brings back Rasul Douglas next season, they will still need to find a new top cornerback. It’s likely they’ll look to the 2025 NFL Draft, explore trade options, or sign additional free agents.

Free agency doesn’t start until March, but it’s interesting to speculate whether Douglas will return to the Packers next season. There’s also a possibility he could rejoin the Buffalo Bills if the market for him is limited.
