Breaking: 6-foot-8 power forward Sensation commits to Georgetown and reclassifies

Just when it seemed the Georgetown Hoyas had finalized their roster for next season, they made another surprising addition.

Last week, they welcomed international big man Julius Halaifonua, and today, they announced the commitment of an exciting power forward.

Jayden Fort, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Washington, D.C.’s Jackson-Reed, has committed to Georgetown and reclassified to the class of 2024, he informed 247Sports.

“I chose Georgetown because the moment I arrived on campus, I felt at home. The coaches welcomed me warmly and shared their vision for my future,” Fort said. “Being able to stay in D.C. is also important to me; my family can easily come to watch me play, which is a big plus.”

With Fort’s commitment, he becomes the fifth addition to the 2024-25 Hoyas’ roster from high school, joining Thomas Sorber, Halaifonua, Kayvan Mulready, and Caleb Williams.

Coach Cooley and his staff have also been active in the transfer portal, bringing in four veteran players to reshape the roster for his second year in D.C.

Cooley is adding a wealth of impactful players for the upcoming season, and Fort offers a promising prospect for future development.

Fort combines size, length, and athleticism but will need time to strengthen his frame and refine his skill set.

“I will bring a strong work ethic and versatility to the program every day, and I’ll showcase my versatility on both ends of the court,” he shared about his contributions to Georgetown.

While playing for Team Melo this summer, Fort averaged 8.1 points and 4.2 rebounds, shooting 47.4% from the field.

Currently, Fort excels at finishing plays at the rim, demonstrating the ability to rise up and finish strong with alley-oops. He’s also shown potential to stretch the floor, act as a versatile defender, and be a solid positional rebounder.
