A’s Sell Out Final Game in Oakland This September

The Oakland Athletics are set to conclude over 50 years in the city next month with a final sold-out game.

Although the A’s have just over seven weeks remaining in their longtime home in Oakland, they have ensured that their last match in the Bay Area will be memorable. Their final game at the 19,200-seat Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum is scheduled for September 26 against the Rangers.

The projected attendance for this game sharply contrasts with the season’s average; while the team’s highest single-game attendance at the venue was 56,310 in 2018, they’re currently averaging fewer than 9,000 fans per game. Earlier this season, they experienced a low point with just 3,296 fans attending a game against the Cardinals.

As a final gesture to their supporters, the A’s are offering $2 tickets for the game on September 24 and $10 tickets for the game on September 25. They are also providing free parking and early gate access for these games. After that, the team will finish the season with a final three-game series against the Mariners in Seattle.

Next season, the A’s will relocate to Sacramento for a three-year period at Sutter Health Park, which holds 14,000 spectators and is the home of the Giants’ Triple-A affiliate, the River Cats. The team is scheduled to move to a new $1.5 billion stadium in Las Vegas in 2028. This relocation has caused significant backlash among fans, leading to protests. Although the MLB has approved the move, a Nevada court is currently reviewing the details of a $380 million public funding deal for the new stadium.
