Reports: K-State Football Expecting Big Year From Redshirt Explosive Freshman DE

MANHATTAN, KS. (KSNT) – Throughout fall football camp, K-State coaches have praised the sophomore and redshirt freshman class.

Quarterback Avery Johnson stands out among the second-year players expected to make an impact, but during Monday’s press conference with defensive coaches, there was notable excitement about defensive end Jordan Allen.

Although Allen didn’t play in any games as a true freshman, he is expected to get some playing time in his second year.

“Jordan has the potential to make a lot of plays,” said K-State defensive ends coach Buddy Wyatt. “He’s physically gifted—big, fast, strong, and explosive.”

Having played both tight end and defensive end at Olathe South in high school, Allen’s main challenge for playing time will be grasping his responsibilities at the college level.

“Once he learns how to play this game, he’ll be a significant force,” Wyatt stated.

“It’s great to see him come in and embrace any role he’s given,” noted K-State assistant head coach Van Malone. “He’s working hard to excel in those roles, and I believe he will become a valuable player for us.”

K-State is set to open the 2024 season at home against UT Martin on August 31.
