Recent Mock Draft Has Chiefs Targeting Big Ten Stars in Early Rounds
The Chiefs could add two National Champions to their Super Bowl-winning roster. In a recent mock draft, ESPN NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller predicted the first 64 picks, choosing players he believes match each team’s needs and prospects’ quality.
As always, Kansas City has the opportunity to pick from a strong group of potential day-one starters who could immediately contribute to another championship run. Miller agrees, selecting two of college football’s standout stars.
At pick 32, the Chiefs bolster their defensive line by choosing Michigan DT Kenneth Grant. While Grant is considered a top-15 talent, he could slide due to team needs and his focus as a run-stopper rather than a pass-rusher. In most mock drafts, he’s typically selected in the 25-30 range, though he may require the Chiefs to trade up if they’re eager to land him, similar to last year’s trade for Xavier Worthy. Grant would provide an affordable option to improve the interior defensive line, especially with key players like Mike Pennel, Tershawn Wharton, Marlon Tuipulotu, and Derrick Nnadi likely heading to free agency.
At pick 64, the Chiefs secure one of their most anticipated running back picks since Priest Holmes, Ohio State’s TreVeyon Henderson. Known for his exceptional footwork, burst, and speed, Henderson’s injury issues from earlier in his career appear to be behind him. Drafting him could revive the excitement of pairing a dynamic back with Patrick Mahomes, offering a glimpse of what fans missed with Kareem Hunt’s potential alongside Mahomes.
Both players are National Champions, familiar with the high expectations of the Kansas City locker room. Their addition could help drive the team toward another Super Bowl victory.
