South Carolina QB Target, Landon Duckworth Talks Latest On His Recruitment
Jackson, Alabama quarterback Landon Duckworth was once a longtime South Carolina commit, but he decommitted from the Gamecocks last June. Since then, the landscape at South Carolina has shifted—head coach Shane Beamer signed a contract extension, and quarterback LaNorris Sellers showcased his potential. Now, Duckworth is entering the final stretch of his recruitment.
We caught up with Duckworth at the Under Armour Next Series in Atlanta to get the latest on his recruitment and his thoughts on South Carolina.
Duckworth on the Changes Since His Decommitment
“You know, Coach Loggains has left, but Coach Beamer is still there, so everything is good. We have a great relationship, and I’ve also known Coach Shula for a while. He’s visited my school a couple of times, and we even met up for dinner in Mobile with my mom.”
His Expectations for Mike Shula’s Offense
“I think it depends. He coached Cam Newton for a long time, and his dad was a great coach as well. They’re counting on him to bring a lot to the offense.”
The Message from South Carolina’s Staff
“I talk to Coach Shula and Coach Beamer a lot, but I’ve been in contact with the entire staff, including the new hires. The message has stayed the same—they really want me, and they remind me of that all the time.”
Other Programs Prioritizing Him
“Florida State, Missouri—I really like Missouri—North Carolina, and Georgia.”
