Caitlin Clark Praises Fever’s Offseason Additions as “Exactly What We Needed”

Indiana has been actively working to improve its roster. In 2024, the arrival of guard Caitlin Clark in the WNBA generated a huge buzz in the basketball world from a cultural perspective.

However, despite the excitement, the young Fever team struggled to meet expectations on the court. They ended the season with a 20-20 record but were swept by the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA playoffs. This led Indiana to take a bold approach in the offseason—an effort that has impressed Clark.

“This is the top franchise in all women’s sports, no matter the sport,” she said, as quoted by the AP’s Michael Marot. “The crowds we draw and the excitement we’re creating not just in Indiana but across the country speak for themselves.”

Clark spoke during a press conference where forward and guard DeWanna Bonner— a six-time All-Star with the Phoenix Mercury and Sun—commented on the large media presence, saying she had never experienced anything like it.

Along with Bonner, the Fever also signed forward Natasha Howard, a two-time All-Star who previously played with Indiana from 2014 to 2015.

“They know what it takes to win, what it takes to reach the Finals, and what it takes to win championships,” Clark added. “I think these additions are exactly what we needed in our locker room.”
