There’s growing speculation about Aaron Rodgers’ future, with some wondering if he’ll play for another year. While the New York Jets are moving on from him, there will likely be interest from other teams if Rodgers decides to continue his career.
One team recently mentioned in this speculation is the Los Angeles Rams. ESPN’s Adam Schefter suggested that if the Rams part ways with Matthew Stafford, Rodgers could be a potential fit. He clarified that he wasn’t reporting any ongoing discussions, but offered this as a possibility.
The idea is intriguing, especially with reports suggesting that Davante Adams may be interested in joining the West Coast. The pairing of Rodgers and Adams would be exciting, and with a solid team already in place, the Rams could become a strong contender with this duo.
However, there are significant factors to consider. Matthew Stafford, while 37, is still performing at a high level and remains an elite quarterback. The Rams even gave the Philadelphia Eagles a tough challenge in the playoffs, more than any other team.
Given all of this, Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times advised the Rams to avoid pursuing Rodgers. He pointed out that while Stafford is in his late 30s, quarterbacks often face a decline in their performance at that age, unless you’re Tom Brady. Plaschke noted that Stafford still has a safe year or two left, but may seek more job security with a longer contract, which could push him to another team. The Rams must decide whether to keep Stafford, who struggled toward the end of the regular season but performed well in the playoffs, or trade him while his value is high and replace him with a new quarterback—possibly even Rodgers.
Although the Rams have a history of making bold moves, such as trading multiple draft picks for Jared Goff, Plaschke strongly believes it would be a mistake to replace Stafford with Rodgers at this point.
Now the question remains: What will Rodgers decide for his future?
