Ohio State Star Makes Bold Statement About Buckeyes’ Defense
An Ohio State Buckeyes star has made an incredibly bold statement about his team’s defense.
The Buckeyes recently claimed their first national championship in ten years, largely thanks to a defense that ranked No. 1 in the nation. Ohio State’s defense was stacked at every level, a fact that was evident throughout the College Football Playoff as they shut down some of the top offenses in the country.
One of the most impressive aspects of Ohio State’s defense was its ability to make key stops, especially in critical goal-line situations. Safety Lathan Ransom discussed the Buckeyes’ success in this area during a recent appearance on The Bobby Carpenter Show, and he made a huge claim about his team’s defense.
“…man, when we got to the goal line – it got to a point where we got more confident when the offense would get down there because we knew how great our defense was in the red zone,” Ransom said. “… But I think we had the best goal-line defense ever.”
It was truly remarkable how Ohio State seemed to get even tougher when opponents got inside the 20-yard line, with the defense tightening up as the end zone drew nearer.
Ransom was a key contributor to that success, finishing the 2024 season with 76 tackles, nine tackles for loss, a sack, an interception, three forced fumbles, and a defensive touchdown.
At just 22 years old, Ransom was perhaps one of the most underrated members of Ohio State’s defense this season. Now, as he heads into the NFL Draft, he’s becoming a sleeper pick with a lot of potential.
