Official visits are common after a commitment, but six?
Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze has been hard at work shaping his 2026 recruiting class, and securing a commitment from four-star linebacker Shadarius Toodle is a significant win. However, even though Toodle has pledged to the Tigers, he still has the opportunity to take official visits to other schools. The fact that he has several visits lined up might raise some concerns for Tigers fans.
Toodle announced his commitment to Auburn back in July 2024, but on March 3, it was revealed that he has six official visits planned for this spring. Yes, six visits! While one of those visits is to Auburn, his early commitment suggests that he is still exploring other options.
In addition to Auburn on March 29, Toodle has official visits scheduled with UNC on March 4, Florida on March 11, Georgia on March 15, Baylor on March 22, and Michigan on April 12.
Toodle is ranked as the 11th best linebacker in the Class of 2026 and holds the same ranking among players in Alabama. The Mobile native is currently a student at Cottage Hill Christian Academy and has received offers from every school he is visiting, in addition to offers from Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia Tech, LSU, Louisville, Memphis, Miami, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCF, Texas A&M, USC, Washington, and Vanderbilt.
With such a plethora of offers, it’s clear that Toodle is a highly desired linebacker with plenty of choices. Even though he has committed to Auburn, he’s not the first recruit to change his mind and opt for a different school. To keep Toodle with the Tigers, Auburn will need to make a strong impression, especially considering the prestigious programs he plans to visit.
