The Los Angeles Rams have already started making moves to adjust their roster, but there is one player they should make every effort to keep: Demarcus Robinson.
While securing Matthew Stafford was the team’s top priority, the Rams still have other areas that need attention now that Stafford’s future is settled. With their quarterback situation squared away, the next order of business is addressing the wide receiver position.
Sterling Xie of the Pro Football Network recently highlighted the key free agent each team should prioritize this offseason. As the Rams continue to make roster adjustments in the coming months, Robinson stands out as a player they should work to retain.
“The Rams have already solved their two biggest offseason questions by locking in Stafford and extending left tackle Alaric Jackson to avoid free agency,” Xie stated. “With the Rams seemingly all-in for a 2025 run, the logical next step is to keep Stafford’s reliable targets.”
While Robinson has often played a secondary role behind Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp in recent seasons, he has provided a solid presence and a knack for big plays. Last season, Robinson played the most snaps and ran the most routes of any receiver on the Rams, leading the team with seven touchdown catches while other key players struggled with injuries.
Xie pointed out that the Rams’ potential move to trade Kupp this offseason could make Robinson even more valuable, as the team might soon find themselves thin at the receiver position. While the Rams are likely to add more receivers through the NFL Draft or free agency, Robinson is still a player worth holding onto.
“With Kupp potentially leaving, Robinson would step into an every-down role for 2025 and give the Rams time to develop a draft pick,” Xie added. “He also brings vital vertical playmaking, with his 16.3 yards per reception ranking fourth among players with at least 30 catches in 2024.”
At 31, Robinson is likely looking at short-term contracts for the remainder of his career. His familiarity with Stafford and head coach Sean McVay makes him more valuable to the Rams than to any other team, so keeping him in Los Angeles should be a no-brainer.
