Tyrese Maxey Could Miss Sixers-Jazz Game
Tyrese Maxey participated in limited practice ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers’ matchup against the Utah Jazz. On Saturday morning, the Sixers held a practice session in preparation for their Sunday night game, but Maxey was not involved in team drills. He did, however, engage in “individual work,” indicating that his season is not at risk despite dealing with several setbacks.
As for Sunday’s game against the Jazz, Maxey is reportedly unlikely to play.
While Maxey has faced some setbacks this season, he has been one of the most consistent players in terms of availability. Apart from a six-game absence in early November due to a hamstring injury, Maxey played in 45 of 47 games leading up to this latest issue. During that time, he averaged 26 points, six assists, and three rebounds.
Maxey has also played through a finger injury for several weeks, which seemed to impact his performance. A back injury sustained in a game against the Portland Trail Blazers earlier this week caused him to miss additional games. In that home loss to Portland, Maxey fell hard in the second half and played just 23 minutes, contributing five points, six assists, and one steal in the 17-point defeat.
The Sixers were set to visit the Minnesota Timberwolves the next night, where Maxey traveled but was not cleared to play. This pattern continued in the following game against the Boston Celtics.
With the Jazz in Philadelphia on Sunday, it seems likely Maxey will miss his third straight game. The Sixers and Jazz are scheduled to tip off at 7:30 PM ET.
