Vanderbilt Basketball Announces Surprising All-SEC Recognition

Vanderbilt Guard Named to All-SEC Third Team

Vanderbilt guard named to All-SEC Third Team.

Vanderbilt junior Jason Edwards was the only player from the Commodores to earn recognition in the SEC’s season awards, which were voted on by the conference’s 16 head coaches. These awards were announced two days before the SEC tournament.

Edwards earned a spot on the All-SEC Third Team, after averaging 16.9 points per game and scoring in double digits in all but two SEC games. The junior guard registered 20 or more points in six SEC matchups, including a season-high 30 points against TCU in the Coast-to-Coast Challenge. With 524 points on the season, Edwards ranks sixth in the SEC, and his 137 made free throws are third in the league, with an impressive 84% shooting rate from the free-throw line. Edwards becomes the first Commodore to be selected to an All-SEC team since Liam Robbins in 2023.

Vanderbilt will begin its SEC Tournament campaign on Wednesday against Texas at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, with the game set to tip off 25 minutes after the conclusion of the South Carolina-Arkansas matchup.
