Indianapolis Colts Major Golden Opportunity to Trade for Eagles TE

Colts Have Big Chance to Trade for Eagles TE

Should the Indianapolis Colts consider pursuing Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert? The Colts may have a prime opportunity to address their tight end position this offseason.

As reported by FOX Sports insider Jordan Schultz, the Philadelphia Eagles are open to trade discussions regarding veteran tight end Dallas Goedert –– an experienced player fresh off a Super Bowl victory, and a potential solution for the Colts’ tight end needs.

Goedert has been a key contributor to the Eagles’ passing game since being drafted in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Most recently, he posted 42 receptions, 496 yards, and two touchdowns in 10 games last season.

For a Colts offense in search of a reliable tight end, Goedert could be a tempting option. He has familiarity with the Indianapolis coaching staff, led by head coach Shane Steichen, who previously worked with Goedert in Philadelphia. He would provide a much-needed safety net for rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Last season, the Colts didn’t have a tight end record more than 200 receiving yards, a milestone Goedert reached in just over half a season. While he may not be a long-term solution, the 30-year-old could serve as a solid stopgap for Indianapolis’ tight end needs heading into 2025.

The Colts have shown signs of aggressiveness this offseason with their higher-than-usual free-agent spending. It remains to be seen if they’ll carry that ambition into the trade market for a player like Goedert.
