Recent Mock Draft Has Rams Selecting Elite Playmaker

The Los Angeles Rams have had one of the most impressive offseasons in the NFL, and as their free agency activities wind down, their attention now turns to the upcoming NFL Draft. Could Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka be on their radar?

After making waves this offseason with several key moves, the Rams are focused on further improving their team through the 2025 NFL Draft.

Following their Super Bowl win in 2022, the Rams’ decision to trade away many of their draft picks led many to believe a rebuild was imminent. However, they’ve proven the opposite by finding key talent in every round since. The Rams have a strong sense of what players will fit their system, and they’ve been executing flawlessly, keeping their strategies under wraps. With the draft approaching next month, all eyes are on them once again.

In a recent mock draft, CBS Sports writer Mike Renner predicts the Rams will target a wide receiver in the first round to complement their existing duo of Puka Nacua and Van Jefferson. He has the Rams selecting Emeka Egbuka from Ohio State with the 26th overall pick.

“Emeka Egbuka is the type of precise route-runner who would fit seamlessly into the Rams’ offense. While Les Snead has done well finding talent later in the draft, Egbuka would provide them with a potent three-deep receiving corps right out of the gate,” Renner explained.

Once projected as a second-round pick, Egbuka’s draft stock has been rising, and now he’s widely expected to go in the first round.

NFL Analyst Lance Zierlein noted, “Egbuka is a smooth athlete with good size and strong ball skills, primarily playing from the slot. He runs routes with excellent timing and can manipulate coverage when necessary. While he’s not particularly explosive and can be tight in his hips during breaks, his baseball background helps him track the ball with precision and make quick adjustments. Though not elusive after the catch, he’s competitive and can fight for extra yards. Egbuka is likely to be a day-one starter in slot-heavy offenses.”
