Rising MSU Receiver Prospect Schedules Official Visit
Florida native Elijah West has confirmed his official visit to Michigan State.
Michigan State has been aggressive in bolstering its roster with offensive talent through the transfer portal and the 2025 recruiting class. Head coach Jonathan Smith focused on enhancing the receiver group to support star quarterback Aidan Chiles.
This focus on strengthening the skill positions continues into the 2026 recruiting class, with several receiver visits already lined up. The latest addition is Elijah West, a wide receiver from Pensacola, Florida, who will be visiting campus on May 30.
West is a three-star recruit according to 247Sports and has received 14 Division I offers. Known for his lanky frame and wide catch radius, he is a threat on deep routes, using his ability to stretch the field to easily get open. His physicality also makes him a strong red zone target.
An often overlooked trait for receivers is their ability to block, and West excels in this area. He is ready to contribute to the run game with his tough, gritty playstyle, making him a great fit for Michigan State’s offense.
The Spartans’ efforts to recruit West may be boosted by the presence of wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins, who has a proven track record of developing receivers and helping them reach the NFL. Many players praise Hawkins for his coaching style and the strong relationships he builds with his players.
Smith and Hawkins have worked closely to add depth to a position that was lacking last season. While returning wideout Nick Marsh made a strong impression as a freshman, additional support could help him perform even better. Recognizing this, Michigan State has made significant efforts to strengthen the receiver group.
As official visits begin, the Michigan State coaching staff will continue to build relationships and promote the program.
